Advocates on behalf of offenders and alleged offenders with developmental disabilities. Direct client assistance provides liaison support for eligible clients in the development of a treatment plan consistent with the person's needs, rights and responsibilities. Education and training provides information for criminal justice and social service professionals to enhance the awareness and understanding of the rights and responsibilities of person's with MR/DD who are at risk to become or who are involved in the criminal justice system. Services are available to individuals 17 years of age and older, and to juveniles under 17 if they are certified to stand trial as adults. Information and referral provides needed information or referral to appropriate resources.
